The only academic high school in the Baden-Württemberg part of the UNESCO Global Geopark Ries, the Ostalb Gymnasium (OAG) Bopfingen was officially designated a Geopark Ries School in November 2023 and was the sixth school to receive this distinction.
The cooperation between the Global Geopark Ries and the Ostalb Gymnasium aims to expand the school’s focus on ‟Education for Sustainable Development” (SDG). The students gain knowledge about the formation and uniqueness of this very special region through various learning and experiential sites within the Geopark Ries.
The Gymnasium in Bopfingen strives to teach its students to interact respectfully and responsibly with their environment. This designation serves as confirmation of this path and impetus to deepen the existing effort.
